I fratelli Jean-Pierre e Luc Dardenne tornano a raccontare quel mondo femminile che in passato hanno più volte esplorato, soffermandosi in questo caso su ritratti di giovani madri in contesti periferici e disagiati del Belgio contemporaneo, figure di donne contraddistinte da diverse forme di resilienza e tentativi di non perdere la speranza sebbene tutto, accanto a loro, sembrerebbe andare per il verso sbagliato. Un’opera impegnata e potente, perfetta per i fan del cinema dei due autori belgi.
Five teenagers hoping for a better life for themselves and their babies. Brothers Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne return to explore the world of women, a subject they have tackled many times in the past, focusing in this case on portraits of young mothers in the disadvantaged suburbs of contemporary Belgium. These women are characterized by different forms of resilience and by their attempts not to give up hope, even though everything around them seems to be heading in the wrong direction. A powerful and engaging work, perfect for fans of the two Belgian filmmakers.
