Cosa hanno in comune un pastore che sogna il lago Titicaca, un duo musicale in pensione, delle bambine che cercano Pokemon e un signore che conta le case vuote del villaggio? Le radici, Meseta. Un luogo disperso nella Spagna centrale che Juan Palacios ha voluto raccontare in stile documentaristico, elevandolo ad arte per non correre il rischio di perderlo per sempre. Il paesaggio diviene dunque personaggio e quasi protagonista di quest’opera personale, capace di raccontare il presente per far sì che possa esserci ancora un futuro.

Somewhere in inland Spain, a shepherd dreams of visiting Lake Titicaca, a retired musical duo recall their golden age, two young sisters search for pokemons without any luck and an old man counts the empty houses of the village in order to fall asleep at night. The characters of this film emerge as geographical features of a territory whose culture and lifestyle appear to be vanishing in time. That territory itself is the true protagonist of this story. Through an observational tone and an almost surreal manner, INLAND is configured as a film-map to navigate through the past, the present and the future of the Spanish rural world; a sensorial trip through the empty landscape of Spain.
